As outlined in the Ottawa Sun, Gatineau native and now Sens propect Francois Brassard is off to a roaring starting with the Quebec Ramparts:
Roy selected Brassard in the sixth round of the 2011 QMJHL draft, and a year later, after posting an impressive 20-10-3 record as a rookie with the Remparts, Brassard’s name was called from the podium in Pittsburgh as a sixth-round selection (166th overall) of his hometown Senators.
After spending the summer training, Brassard soaked it all in during the Senators rookie camp.
“There wasn’t as much (technique) to learn, it was more about the maturity and experience and getting to know what you can do at this level,” said Brassard. “I’ve gained a lot on the mental side of the game. I’m more focused now in games, (when) last year I had more ups and downs.”
