Bryan Murray is officially working his way through interviews. Clouston was fired six weeks ago, but the Sens’ brass wanted to wait for the Memorial Cup and Calder Cup finals to play out so they could interview Dave Cameron (Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors) and Kurt Kleinendorst (Binghamton Senators).
Murray may want to act quickly given Minnesota, Florida, Dallas and New Jersey also will be hiring.
Remoured and confirmed interviews include:
- Dave Cameron (Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors’ head coach);
- Kurt Kleinendorst (Binghamton Senators’ head coach);
- Paul MacLean (Detroit Red Wings’ assistant coach;
- Craig MacTavish; and
- Kirk Muller (Montreal Canadiens’ assistant coach).
Murray explained the importance of interviewing B-Sens coach Kurt Kleinendorst:
It would be grossly unfair if we didn’t interview him […] Both he and Steve (Stirling, assistant coach) have done a hell of a job, taking a team that hadn’t been in the playoffs for four or five years to the AHL final. We will give him some time.
