Sens were down 2-1 to the Habs but appeared to tie the game with a shot from the point.  But the goal was then shockingly waved off for goalie interference.  The “interference” was a soft touch by Turris on Price about three feet in front of the crease:

The call was absurd for any number of reasons, but perhaps none more upsetting than the fact that contact was made after the puck had made its way past Price.  Thus, even if the contact was inappropriate, which it wasn’t,  it had no impact on whether Price could have made a save in the circumstance.  Here’s the video:

The Sens, playing without Spezza for the next two months and without Gonchar today will need better puck and ref luck if they are going to make the playoffs.

Anderson had another fantastic game making 30 saves and again was perfect in the second and third periods.  He hasn’t let in a goal in a second or third period yet this year.

The lone Ottawa goal was scored by Silfverberg on a power play breakaway off an all-world pass from Wiercioch just minutes into the game.  Unfortunately Ottawa then brain cramped and gave up two quick goals and the Habs maintained that lead all the way to the end of the game.

The lack of a true offensive threat, in the absence of Jason Spezza, was extremely noticeable for the second game in a row.  That said, they generated several glorious chances in the third period but couldn’t cash the equalizer (other than the goal that got called back).  Jim O’Brien in particular deserves credit for getting some great chances but should also be ashamed for continuing to lose the puck once in the red zone.

Erik Karlsson was a star and played over 32 minutes.
